The Outdoor Club of South Jersey is a not for profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for extending the individual's awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of the environment through experiences in outdoor activities.

 

The Club is committed to the wise use, preservation, and respect for the outdoors and its natural beauty.

 

The Club is made up of people of all ages who are involved with the outdoors. All activities are led by volunteer members. The Club offers all members an opportunity to be a part of or to create their own outdoor experience or activity.

OUTDOOR CLUB OF SOUTH JERSEY

NEW YORK CITY BUS TRIP AND SELF- GUIDED TOUR

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2010

Meet at 7:30am the bus departs at 8:00 am sharp. Uptown, Mid-town, Downtown and don�t forget the festival of San Gennaro, Little Italy�s best, the 83rd annual feast. We drop you off at South Street Seaport and then pick you up for the return trip home at 7:00 pm sharp. Cost is $25 each. Once in New York it is a self guided tour. Make checks payable to OCSJ and mail to Dave Hegelein at 603 Bowling Green, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Advance registration is a must. No refunds. Bus departs rain or shine from the Moorestown Mall (details TBD) off Rt. 38 at 8am. Dave and Julie Hegelein, 856-235-8792.

f you enjoy the bus trips, ski trips, holiday party,etc. ,we would ask that you help us continue these activities. There has been a tendency to wait until the last minute to make reservations. This has a negative effect on the planning for these activities. Payments must be made and deadlines met. If there doesn't appear to be an interest, we must consider eliminating activities and putting your club money to better use. Help us make the correct decisions.

New (web only)September 18-19 Appalachian Trail Backpacking Pennsylvania: -13 miles, intermediate. From Lehigh Gap to Smith Gap. See good views of the Aquashicola Creek Valley & southern farmlands from overlooks, as we run the ridgeline south. I've committed to having a Club Booth  again this year. If you are interested in helping contact me hornet71@verizon.net . I  also received a request for someone to lead  hikes; if you are interested , you can contact Ginette Pompeo directly pines@bcc.edu  or 609-893-1765. I would ask that you also let me know. A few short hikes  around the bog have been offered in the past. Note that there is a small fee  to park at the Festival (Leaders are exempt) .

  Donations are requested for a Bronze Plaque in honor of Joseph Trujillo. It will be installed in the Bass River State Forest on Joe's Trail. The tentative installation date is Earth Day.    More info....

40% of the OCSJ membership still receive the Club newsletter (Trekker) by Printed / regular mail (snail mail) instead of using the OCSJ Website online. You must be a paid member and pay an additional fee for the Printed / Mailed Trekker with your membership application. The Application must be on record at least one month prior to the next Trekker quarterly mailing in order to receive the next Trekker.

Note; Members that only use OCSJ Website for your club information will be notified using your Email address prior to your expiration date, by our Treasurer. Please send your current or changed Email address to Treasurer@ocsj.org.
